Description
My son Nathan was diagnosed with Severe Combined Immune Deficiency at two days old. He had ablative chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant when he was two months old. He suffered life threatening complications affecting his heart, liver and kidneys from the chemotherapy. We have spent over 11 months in the hospital. He just turned three an is full of smiles. Our journey is not over, we still manage side effects from treatment. We are so thankful for all the answered prayers.
Our journey made me passionate about helping other families. We did not get to connect with other families due to being in isolation, and resources were very hard to find being considered a hematology family. I want families to be encouraged, have fun, and come together as a HEMONC community to celebrate. I believe the patients, the siblings and parents are all heroes, the whole family needs to be recognized for their brave battles! Thank you for joining us to celebrate, you are EVERY DAY A HERO!
