Everyday a Hero helps for pediatric Oncology and Hematology patients ages 0 to 18 and their families. We celebrate not only the patients, but the parents and siblings. WE provide a evening of fun at an entertainment complex, and an extensive resource fair to allow families to connect with organizations that can assist them. Every Day A Hero’s mission is to:
1. Celebrate the whole families, patients, parents and siblings The journey is hard on the whole family. We want to encourage and give them HOPE.
2. Not to duplicate other services, but CONNECT families to existing resources through the resource fair. Many families struggle finding assistance. Families can ask questions and get information from the organizations themselves.
3. Helping to connect the non-profits to team together as a community to better assist families.
We were able to support over 250 people and 24 organizations our first year in 2013. In 2014, we grew to 350 people and 36 organizations!! We expect 500 people and over 40 organization in 2015!!
This event provides a few hours of fun , encouragement patients and families, and a resource fair to aid in their journeys. Every Day A Hero brings families together so they know they’re not alone. These families must be in isolation due to the child’s low immunity. By providing a clean environment, families can connect with others that share this difficult journey. Many children are not able to have normal experiences due to the lack of immunity. This gives children the chance to feel like a normal child and have fun for a night. For some of the children we have served, it was one of their last opportunities to have an experience like this due to their illness.
